Default [B]Melandru's Warrior[/B] because sharing is caring

Melandru's Warrior - posted in builds directory and here so that i may be insulted/questioned/flamed/praised/crit/and just because.

General PVE - with variation - AB

Damage / Survivalist (not a solo build) everything a warrior should be.

W/R

Atts: Base weapon 10 +3(sup rune) +1 helm - 14 axe mastery
Base Strength 11 +2(mag rune) - 13 strength
Wilderness survival - 10

Armor: Sentinal Head and Chest, Max Vigor if possible, will need it for the rune hp drain. Sup Absorption on chest just because. Once the Atts read, 14 13 10 the 3 other suffix slots are yours to play with.

Skill Sets:

Troll Unguent|Penetrating Blow|Dismember|Whirlwind Attack|Flail|Power Attack|Counter Attack| [E] Melandru's resilience|

Variations: The build above is the general layout, the way it is on my bar. The IAS used to be Tigers fury before there was Flail, in which i used 8 wilderness and 8 Beast mastery. This was also pre sentinal upgrade so strength ran at 11.

Anyway, Whirlwind attack is - as you know - pve only, its a new inclusion into my template because its =WiN, but Skill slot 4 is really interchangable for any adren attack you like. As is Skill slot 7, energy will not really be a problem here so it may be switched for an "attack plus" as i like to call it, Griffons sweep being my personal fav ;-).

But for general full group pve warrior-ing, i would suggest sticking to 5 attack skills, theres nothing like switching targets at the right moment and unloading 7 attack skills (energy skills coming first and last) ..especially while flailing.

AB - (the only pvp i do) i tend to drop skill slot 4 (adrenline attack) for Sprint, for obvious reasons, power attack stays because 36 dmg +your 13% penetration from you str att is hitting other warriors for 90 dmg let alone soft targets. Energy attack 2 will be interchangeable i run with griffons sweep (some times bulls strike) but incase i get into a slugg fest with another warrior its nice to have the constant dmg from griffons ready when i need.

Usage: My template hasnt changed (more or less) for 2 years and 3 campaigns - Even when Melandrus Resilience was +2 regen/per hex and condition it still worked for me and the general pve i played.

Weapons: Warrior basic (for me and my fellows anyway) 1 Zealous of fortitude - again for the hp denied by runes. 1 [elemental dmg modded weapon] of what ever you like, simply for vs. warriors that you pray are wearing Gladiators armor and not sentinals^^.

Now for the dreaded subject Trolls unguent, yes i know it's regen and not a straite heal, im not going to convince you on this page, and theres nothin i can tell you that will change your mind, if your mind is closed, Regen saves lives man |lol| thats all i can say, the survivability of this build still amazes me, dont forget you wont need constant self heals cos u will have your monks.

All i can say is it works.

Hate it love it use it bin it - but pls try it, if u are stuck for a warrior build.

Weak build overall. Healing signet or Lion's Comfort is a better self heal than Troll (regen is for Mending scrubs... after 18 months you should know this by now). In addition, it has a cast time of 3 seconds and needs to be recast every 10... Penetrating blow isn't anything stellar, especially since it doesn't stack with strength.

Overall, there are too many attack skills, most of them without any added utility other than damage. Melandru's doesn't stack with Flail, which makes it a bad choice on a warrior. Too much HP is taken off by the runes for any PvP at all, and most PvE. With that much HP loss you should be wearing Survivor armor and stacked up on Vitae runes....

Bottom line:
*Needs Bull's Strike
*Needs a speed boost
*Needs a better elite that doesn't mess with your IAS stance
*Needs a better self heal
*Needs a better spike chain for an axe warrior. Eviscerate+Executioner's+Agonizing Chop >>> these attack skills.

This is good for beginner warriors but isn't anything you should've been using for 2 years. As for regen "saving lives" at most you'll get 20hp/second for 10 seconds, which is 200 hp over 13 seconds (including cast time on troll). Healing signet is about 120 over 2 seconds. Mass regen should be saved for builds specifically build around it, such as stoneflesh tanks or 55s.... not PvP.

i hear you, and understand, but am inclined to disagree, All attack skills stack with your strength attribute, regular swings are the only thing that don't, as for the Troll thing^^, i knew i would convince no one. And this PVP you speak of ? AB is about as far from competitive PVP as players can possibly get without stepping back into there comfort pve zone.

and HP being too low? equipment fixes that, i run at 510 hp, this doesnt strike me as too low.

The attack skills you pointed out are great skills indeed, but power attack is just about = to executioner at 14 axe mastery that i run, and in the time it takes to get an executioners built up, i could have pumped out 2 power attacks, a counter attack, a penetrating blow and a dismember, re-use and recycle.

Guys please dont mis-understand, i have tested all viable warrior attack skill combinations, Executioners was included for a while, but because of the 8 adren build up, it just worked better to use penetrating and the enrgy attacks, wait 2 swings and use it again, rather then use 1 executioners, then wait 8 adren.

Oh, and as for stacking with flail, the -33% speed means i will usually have to cancel; out of it anyway to get some where else or to pick off an enemy that starts to run as they do.

You make valid points friend, but it's nothing that i havnt already tested i assure you.

1 major rune and 1 sup rune gives u -110 hp. You will not be able to survive a spike. I agree with ca aok. Please throw in a rez.

I think the lowest I've ever run my HP in any PvP is 545.

Since you're building up the adrenaline for Dismember, you only need two more swings for the chain I posted. Which is certainly not enough time to unleash that chain. The skills I posted do a sizable chunk of spike damage plus interrupts the target. The way to play a warrior is build up adrenaline on a secondary target and then switch targets and spike, which makes this all a moot point anyway.

I never said it was good on this bar, I said it was good. There's a difference.

That's why most people bring Frenzy+a run cancel stance in PvP.

Ditch Melandru's, get an elite that adds damage to your build. Lower your Strength and invest in Tactics... Watch Yourself and Healing Signet are ftw. Change your secondary to something that adds more to a warrior build... warriors in PvP are not meant to tank, but to deal a large amount of DPS.

Possible variants would be flail for frenzy, dash for rush, mending touch for WY!, or a replacement for bull's strike depending on whether you anticipate kiting (admittedly there isn't a ton in ABs). If you decide to drop Bull's Strike, you could also bring a conjure to up your DPS.
